Talk:American Idiot EP

Latest comment: 17 years ago by KrakatoaKatie in topic Merge into American Idiot (song)

Why is this not a single?! The artical even says it's self that an EP consists of 15-30 minutes of music, with four to eight tracks, whereas this consists of three tracks, (One of which was a major hit for Green Day, and another two that could easily be considered B-Sides) and clocks in at under 10 minutes! So tell me, why is this considered to be an EP? Underwater 14:08, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • For no other reason than that it is called an EP. Also, were it a single, it would be the single for the song American Idiot, right? Well, if I remember right there already was a single for that song, so... yeah. --Brandt Luke Zorn 02:41, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • It is common for bands to release multiple versions of a single each with seperate tracks. Also no where other than this site does it say this is an EP.- Hoponpop69

Merge into American Idiot (song) edit

I closed the AfD discussion for this article today, and a bit of explanation and direction is in order. It was decided, based on available sources from Amazon.com and the band's website, that the subject of this article isn't an EP at all, but instead is the "American Idiot" single.

The consensus was to remove the 'EP' bits and merge the remaining content into the American Idiot (song) article. I leave it to knowledgeable fans to move the content; if help is needed doing the actual merge of the pages once the content has been moved, let me know and I'll take care of it. AfD has a huge backlog, and we're working hard to clear it. Thanks. KrakatoaKatie 09:03, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
