Catholic staff members

edit

There are reports that a high percentage of the Society's staff members are Catholic, perhaps up to 50 or 60 percent. This is somewhat controversial, since Bible societies were previously condemned by the Roman Catholic Church. It would be interesting if we could verify this and include it within the article's contents. [1] ADM (talk) 07:49, 27 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect year in article.

edit

There is an inconsistency in the dates of the following paragraph :

In January 2019, American Bible Society introduced the Affirmation of Biblical Community, an employee policy which requires staff to align around a core set of Christian beliefs and practices.[19] The organization came under criticism as the policy excludes individuals in homosexual or unwed heterosexual relationships from employment at the organization. [20] While the organization lost 20 percent of its workforce in 2018, according to American Bible Society, only 4 percent of the organization's staff left in response to the Affirmation. Leadership of the organization explained that the 20 percent attrition in 2018 was consistent with annual totals prior to the new Affirmation policy.[21]

It says that the Affirmation policy was introduced in January 2019, but then says that the organization lost 20 percent of its workforce in 2018 [because of the Affirmation policy].

It looks as though the year 2019 at the beginning of the paragraph should be 2018 because the organization could not have lost 20 percent of its staff in 2018, as it says in the third sentence, if the policy was introduced the next year, 2019, as it says in the first sentence.
