The following text was added to the article, rather than the talk page in this edit. I'm moving it here and deleting from the page.

Creating theTypeface, Amelia, by its Designer, Stan Davis

In case anyone is interested, I'ld like to correct some erroneous assumptions ascribed to the design of the typeface Amelia, which I remember as if it were yesterday. To begin with, the design, which was developed from sketches I'd been playing with for at least a year, seemed to express and even portray my daughter Amelia, who was born in 1964. It seems presumptuous, and is uncomfortable for me to ascribe motivations to a process that took place fifty years ago that was mostly intuitive, but I am a working designer, moved by the same history, world we all live in, and daughter I still love.

The design came out of the same sense of awe I had for the beauty of classic typefaces and their lineage from the Trajan inscriptions as was my awe for the miracle that brought my daughter Amelia. The letters forms evolved, or were, more aptly, propelled by the urgency of the times and my premonitions of digital technology. They have firm roots in, but fly in the face of Western tradition and reflect my fascination with Eastern Symbolism. The typeface, like my daughter, acknowledges the past but was and is of the future.
