Grace and Jackson edit

"The outlook of the two classes contrasted in that most of the amateurs played primarily for enjoyment (some, especially W. G. Grace and the likes of Stanley Jackson, most certainly did not)"

I think that's arguable, and really needs supporting by a reference to a credible source. Even though Grace made a lot of money out of cricket, I don't think there's any doubt that he derived enormous enjoyment from playing the game. Otherwise he would never have carried on playing to such a great age. So I think he did play primarily for enjoyment, with of course the money being very welcome as well. As for Jackson, I had the impression that he was a "true" amateur. He missed some home seasons, and never toured Australia, because he thought his career outside cricket needed to take priority. Ah, I think I've misled you. I was meaning that they were extremely competitive players, not that they didn't enjoy playing. I'll take it out because the meaning isn't clear. Thanks again for your help. Good feedback. Omrw510 (talk) 18:03, 12 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Removal of content edit

@SovalValtos: Please do not remove content. If you require a citation, which is fair enough, then please use the appropriate tag or request it on this page. Nothing in the article is OR but I am using multiple sources and sometimes I need to double-check where a piece of information is best sourced before I specify one (or more). There have been cases where I have read about something in one book but knowing full well that there is better coverage in another book that I haven't re-examined yet. All citations will be provided when I have finished the work (nowhere near finished yet) and any that are still desired after that will be found easily. Thank you. Citation style edit

Please note that citations in this article are done using the shortened footnote template method. I find this preferable to {{cite book}}. If that is a problem for you, please say so here.

Note that webpage citations are still done using {{cite web}} notation. Thanks. Omrw510 (talk) 09:46, 15 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
