Photos

If anyone was at the Hayward in 2003 or Bolton Museum when the Amarna Princess was on display up to about 2006.. then they might have a useful photo. Even a shot of the Museum or something. Also, of course the Louvre and Penn Museum Amarna princesses. Aukker (talk) 03:05, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Silverton Park

"The house was erected for the fourth Earl in 1839-45.." Interesting, but I think here the focus has to be as it relates to the forgery. Especially as relates to Greenhalgh's thinking (which we don't, regrettably, know much about), and the Bolton Museum's thinking about the provenance of the statue. So, it's good to have details showing the collection within was large, and high quality - as the size of the house and the example of the Praxiteles suggests; it lends plausibility to the Museum's analysis, and suggests how Greenhalgh was researching. However, date built and ultimate fate of the building are better off in an article of its own - which would allow a link back to this one. Aukker (talk) 02:27, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

This was a misunderstanding of the importance of "placing" the fake to give it a spurious provenance. The quickly-worked-up fake itself was the lesser part of the scheme. Without the succinct sketch of Silverton Park, the point on which the success of the fake was founded is lost. Returned to the article. Sigh, Wetman. I understand that you want to establish the "provenance" of Silverton Park per se. However, the problem with your "succinct sketch" is that it drifts into an irrelevant history of SP. To reiterate: such details on Silverton Park are interesting, but - here - they merely background the background, and belong in an article of their own. There we can learn all about how the stables were destroyed etc, etc. Good news though: deleting is editing. Aukker (talk) 22:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
