This needs a re-write

It's too informal and at times seems star-struck.

I have done a bit of tweaking, but you are more than welcome to help further formalize the tone. Charles 22:22, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

PR Puff

Seems like a PR piece from Amanda Lepore's agent... Proxy User (talk) 16:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup

I have tagged this article with a cleanup tag. There is not a single reference that is appropriate per WP:BLP, and it is questionable whether this should even be an article per WP:NOTE. 24.16.133.58 (talk) 11:11, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

I have removed most of the unsourced statements of fact and added articles where I could find them. The birthdate is not reported in any source, and she has declined to reveal her age to journalists. Jokestress (talk) 01:28, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Litigation

Original version says that the lawsuit was "taken to New York Supreme Court." The Supreme Court, in New York, is the lowest court of general jurisdiction, not the appellate division. "Taken" is therefore changed to file. The complaint demanded $100,000, and the original assertion that the case was settled for $250,000 was unsourced, so it has been removed.128.103.14.29 18:56, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Unreleased songs

Removed unsourced and put it here until there is a source: "There are two unreleased tracks produced by DJ Gomi that were played in NYC nightclubs circa 2003, the first "Up In This House" was featured additional lyrics and vocals by Kevin Aviance while the second is "Amanda, I Am". Another track, "Turn Me On, Turn Me Over", has not yet been released." Jokestress (talk) 02:38, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Age

Which one is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Devil Master (talkcontribs) 18:25, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

IMDB itself is the only place on the internet that says her birthdate is December 5, 1967. Other places, like Wikipedia, take that date from IMDB. However, her actual year of birth itself has never been released. I saw a video (I think it was the Maury Povich show that she was on, actually, on plastic surgery) that said she was 35 three years ago and another website with a birth year in the 1950s in New Jersey. Amanda has not conceded any of these things on the internet to be her date of birth. When I was with her in the summer, a mutual friend of ours and I talked about it briefly and he said it's not any of those. Until someone has a source such as a birth certificate or a passport, whose place is it to say? Charo is the same way, except any dates definitively added to the article are backed up with court records, etc. 142.68.138.25 (talk) 21:35, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Per The Amanda Lepore Story she divorced her husband in 1989 after being married for five years. She married and had her sex change at 17 [1] which would place her year of birth as 1966/1967.--Shivertimbers433 (talk) 02:25, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Is Gawker a reliable enough source? It also states December 5, 1967. Why is her true age a state secret? -- K72ndst (talk) 01:49, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
We missed her 45th birthday in December, I guess. -- K72ndst (talk) 16:30, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
It's taking "Never ask a lady her age" a step further: avoid all reference to it ;) Seven Letters 17:56, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

I realize this probably qualifies as original research, but I went to high school with her in the early 1970s, so her DOB is probably 1958. Does the high school yearbook qualify as a source?73.158.252.169 (talk) 19:53, 1 October 2016 (UTC)

Gender Identification

This article suffers from political correctness blocking factual and relevant information.

Yeah this person is a HE, maybe even an IT, but definitely NOT a she !! Wikipedia is getting ridiculous with it's PC bullshit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Malau (talkcontribs) 11:59, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

When a transsexual person identifies as female, it is proper to use female pronouns when describing that person. I just undid a pretty poor search-and-replace of female pronouns. Besides that, "her" does not always correlate to the male equivalent "him", so at least try and read your offensive edits before committing them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pickeju (talkcontribs) 17:32, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Lepore now psychologically identifies as female and has had gender reassignment surgery to physically become female. Any references to that person in the present tense, and in the past tense since identification as female at age 11, should be as a female. References to that person in the past before gender reassignment surgery and before identification as female (that is, before age 11) should be male, unless that person prefers otherwise.   — Jeff G. A transsexual is born with what makes them a girl. She was a she her whole life and it is correct to refer to a person as their corrected sex, even when speaking of the past. Besides, she is a transsexual (had surgery) rather than TG, and you can only fix the sex with surgery. Gender (who you are) is permanent and the reason people correct their sex (body) to match. She never "became a woman," but was born one. Transsexualism is a condition you are born with and seek surgery to fix.72.11.40.181 (talk) 00:59, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Gender Identification Questions

Her gender identity is female, and always has been, regardless of her born sex (which by the way was not male, but intersex.) She is a WOMAN. Anatomically, even. End of story.

Gender is not an anatomical property, unless you are using the word as a synonym for sex. 144.62.220.200 (talk) 01:35, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
