I added in a few headmasters from memory but there needs to be more detail In addition the school web site itself is not correct on the foundation date. The Alun School is the coming together of the Alun Grammar School AND the secondary modern, so that history needs to be there, plus the list of headmasters. --Snowded TALK 07:09, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

We (The School) would be grateful if we could insert the following without it being removed: 1. The school is actually not over-capacity and we are happy to insert the precise data for the capacity and the roll for this year and any previous years. The figures posted from 1989 were actually correct and the number of current staff posted was correct. The intention was simply to provide the accurate data and we would be grateful if we were able to post correct information without it being removed. 2. The book does not have an ISBN as it was a private publication and is available fron the school only. That is why the link was put in. We are interested to see one available via Amazon Marketplace but the easiest source for brand new copies would obviously be the school where we have a few left. We would like to put the direct link back. 3. We are currently finalising the correct list of Headteachers from personal contributions by staff who served in the school at those times (Leafblade is correct, David was there in 1989). As sson as it is finished we will insert the information. 4. The school was founded in 1880 and was called Alun School (we have the original letter founding the school). It was then adopted by the County in 1895 and subsequently became the Grammar. This is a direct line with continuation of staff including the Headteacher, William Lloyd Parry, who served from 1880 to 1922. When the Central School (the secondary modern, that had opened in 1938) joined to form a single comprehensive school in Mold, the 'grammar' was dropped and so once again it was just Alun School. However, again there was continuity of staff and students. As stated previously, when the dates have been confirmed we will put in all the information including the time of the parallel grammar and secondary modern schools. I have no objection to the above although I think you should also show the history of the Secondary Modern, The two schools were merged and its history (and headmasters) are as much a part of the history of the current school as the old Grammar. I am sure that if you check with some of the original teachers (Betty Williams if she is still around) then you gather that material as well. I would also ask you not to remove the note against German to the effect that he was sacked, its notable and cited. --Snowded (talk) 21:33, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Have no objections to information being added but it needs to be referenced from a published source. And although it may be incorrect, point 1 above has been referenced and if it is untrue it should still be put in as "source 1 stated xxxx but source 2 on the contrary proves/confirms/states that xxxx is the case." The school itself can't really be used alone as a reliable source as it is not independent and unbiased, hence why ESTYN reports and information referencing the county council and various historians and news articles are used. After extensive research involving previous senior teachers, the Headteacher list has now been corrected. Wynne Williams has been added as he was officially in post for four terms following the departure of Ray German (incidentally Jerry was/is his official nickname). At the end of Jim Hanson's Headship he had an extended illness, but he remained in post at all times and so the end date is corret.

Add topic
