Alturas, Nevada should not be confused with Alturas, California. Alturas, Nevada is very obscure and possibly not notable.
There seems to be only one citation for Alturas, Nevada, which would be Lingenfelter (1978). Alturas, Nevada is not found in the three main references for geographic names in Nevada:
"Nevada Post Offices, an Illustrated history," by James Gamett and Stanley W. Paher
The references for Alturas, Nevada is on page 35 in Lingenfelter and that paragraph has footnote 7, "Bancroft Scraps, Arizona Miscellany, pp. 288, 292,323, 328." That reference seems to be at the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley. Cxbrx (talk) 05:05, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Boleyn, Many thanks for taking the time to look at this article. I saw your edit that removed the Notability template with the summary "meets WP:NPLACE". I was only able to find one source for Alturas, Nevada, (Lingenfelter) that may or may not be WP:RS. WP:PLACE says:
"Cities and villages anywhere in the world are generally kept, regardless of size or length of existence, as long as that existence can be verified through a reliable source. This usually also applies to any other area that has a legally recognized government, such as counties, parishes and municipalities."
"Populated places without legal recognition are considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the GNG. Examples may include subdivisions, business parks, housing developments, informal regions of a state, unofficial neighborhoods, etc. – any of which could be considered notable on a case-by-case basis, given non-trivial coverage in multiple, independent reliable sources."
Hi Cxbrx, the bar does seem to change when it comes to notability. You may want to consider AfD. Thanks for your message, Boleyn (talk) 18:24, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
