Talk:Altamira, Brazil

Latest comment: 15 years ago by Nicholasmorassutti in topic Not the largest anymore

Altamira was the biggest municipality (not the biggest city!) in the world in land area. It encompassed almost half the area of the state of Pará, but the actual town was much smaller. I remember reading a news article about it in Veja once, but I can't get the reference to it. I've corrected the information, but I kept the "verify" notice someone gets the figures right. Pictures of Altamira

edit

Is this page too short in content to add photos? I recently made a trip to Altamira and would be interested in adding one or two. NatePhysics (talk) 05:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what the policies are or how it works, but I understand that some articles have a "gallery" section where a few pictures are displayed in reduced size. Maybe you could try it like that? In any case, if you want to share pictures that would be excellent, even if you only ever upload them to the project and don't immediately put them in any articles. Good luck. --Cotoco (talk) 07:09, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Largest Municipality

edit

Well, according to every reference I can get in the internet, it does not say it isn't the largest municipality of the world anymore. Maybe someone should check it. There's another article in wikipedia with a list of the largest municipalities by land size, and if Altamira's article is wrong, someone should fix the list as well. See list here. Not the largest anymore

edit

January 1st, 2009. This date the municipality of Qaasuitsup, 660.000 sq km, became operational in Greenland, making Altamira looking like a small village. Nicholasmorassutti (talk) 13:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
