Commission and installation

• Link the first mention of Low Memorial Library
• The first sentence is a little hard to follow. Recommend breaking it into two sentences as follows: Plan for a statue in front of the Low Memorial Library began upon the building's completion in 1897. When designing a set of stairs that would lead up to the building, Charles Follen McKim included an empty granite pedestal in the middle of the staircase, on which a statue might sit.
• Pipe "Columbia College" to Columbia College (New York) and add another source that he attended that specific undergraduate college within the larger university, as well as the year of his death (the source only says he graduated in 1860)
• "1902 Commencement" → "1902 commencement ceremony"
• "made it so that it was only unveiled on" → "postponed the unveiling until"
• "for the new school year" → "for the 1902-03 school year"
• The last paragraph requires a little expansion; there's some vague history present in the word "rediscovered" – what happened in the interim?

Later history

• Shrink the first wikilink so that it's just on "protests at Columbia", excluding "many"
• How did it "come to represent the failures of the university's administration"?
• Link patina
• Comma after "as well as in October 1984"

Reception

• "incorrectly claiming" needs expanded upon – did French comment and say that it wasn't a replica?

Design

• The part about the college superstition is probably trivial
• "though over time the original gilding wore off" → "although the original gilding wore away with time."
• The part about the copy at the University of Havana should be expanded upon in the body, not just relegated to the caption.

• References [11] and [26] are misformatted; they site the archival website and not the original source. You should be using the "cite book" template for [26].
• Inconsistent date formatting

General comments

• Photos are relevant and are either Creative Commons licensed or in the public domain
• No stability concerns present in the revision history
• Earwig score is a little high, but it looks like "gpsmycity.com" is directly copying from Wikipedia, not the other way around

@GhostRiver Done! As for the concern about the "incorrectly claiming" bit, the source the quotation as taken from only describes the claim as "erroneous" and doesn't elaborate further, and I can't seem to find either the primary source or the German statue it referred to. Normsupon (talk) 16:04, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
