Pretty short edit
Pretty small article for the engine behind the C-130, one of the most successful planes of all times, plus P3 and E-2. Should be up there with the J79 as greatest engines of all time. 15.219.153.78 (talk) 17:50, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
It's not correct to say the engine was developed FOR the C-130. From what I've read (I'm researching and writing a cover story on the C-130 right now for Aviation History magazine), it was in fact described by at least some Lockheed people as "a windfall" that the engine existed and was at a stage of reliable development when the C-130 assault transport project came along. Obviously the T56 has powered some 2,300 C-130s and has been aboard the airplane from the beginning, but it's not like somebody from Lockheed went to Allison and said, "We need an engine for this airplane, will you develop one for us?" When T56 development began, the C-130 didn't exist even as a proposal.173.62.11.221 (talk) 00:11, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
Large variants section edit
The variants section of this article has become very large, out of proportion with the other sections. I propose to split it as was done recently with Rolls-Royce Olympus and Rolls-Royce Olympus variants unless there are any objections. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 09:32, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
