NPOV

A lot of the write-up for this (and most of the other albums) album is high on gushing praise, low on objectivity. Can we get this cleaned up a bit? Roygbiv666 4 July 2005 13:46 (UTC)

Lyrics

No mention here of the lyrics, and that this is basically a kiss-off song. See 06.06.08 Sound Opinions: The Songs of Summer (somewhere just after minute 20) for citable discussion of this. Downloadable at http://www.soundopinions.org/podcast.html. - Jmabel | Talk 05:29, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

No mention that this song is a mixture of sampling "Werewolf's of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama". Not metioning this makes it appear the song is wholly original. --RobertGary1 (talk) 21:09, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

All Summer LongAll Summer Long (album) — The article about the Kid Rock song deserves the main title with Template:For showing to this album. When people type "All Summer Long" in the search field, they are not looking for a Beach Boys album from 1964, but for Kid Rock's #1 hit. — The Evil IP address (talk) 19:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Survey

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
  • Oppose The Beach Boys are more notable and important recording artists than Kid Rock, with a greater worldwide audience, en:WP does not just serve (young) middle America. If the BB album were to move to All Summer Long (album) then All Summer Long should point to a disambiguation page which could also include a disambiguation for the novel All Summer Long to point to Bob Greene. The Kid Rock song should not assume the main title. Mfield (talk) 19:47, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose, because of recentism. The Beach Boys album has remained well-known and historically relevant for 40 years. No reason to set it aside for the latest flash in the pan. --Yano (talk) 19:47, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose, move not necessary, hatnote points to the KR song. – ukexpat (talk) 20:03, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Who's Kid Rock? olderwiser 04:37, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose as proposed, for the reasons already mentioned above. I would not object to a disambiguation page as envisioned by Mfield. - Ev (talk) 18:59, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose as recentism based only on popular perception and not the longer-term view of reliable sources, and for lack of objective evidence; clearly we do not all know. See also Google book searches Kid Rock 2, beach boys 181 and Google Scholar [Kid Rock 7 Beach Boys 34. Google Web and Google News results are specious as the Beach Boys album predates the Web. --Rogerb67 (talk) 23:33, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Sry that it took so long to answer, I just had some things to do recently. I have to admit that your arguments are really good, especially yours, Rogerb67. I neer saw the things from this point of view, I just thought: "Everyone I know would look for Kid Rock's song", and wanted to make a good thing for Wikipedia, but probably it wasn't that perfect. Now, it would be ok for me to keep it here, though (of course) I'd prefer to see it moved, but this is just my personal opinion. I'm not an expert, so I dont know if a disambig page would be needed, but if so, then it would also be ok. I hope you don't mind me this (unsuccessful) move proposal--The Evil IP address (talk) 22:58, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Rating importance and class

I'm bumping this article up from 'stub' to 'start'; it is clearly somewhat more than a stub, but the article needs a lot of work.

I've rated article importance to 'high', it was unrated previously. As the article notes, the Beach Boys had a #1 hit single on this album at a time when the Beatles were dominating the American airwaves and sales charts. Jusdafax (talk) 02:15, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Relevant move discussion

There is a requested move discussion at Talk:All Summer Long (Kid Rock song)#Move that could affect the title of this article. All input is welcome. Jenks24 (talk) 21:34, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
