youngest WFM at the time of becoming WFM? edit

See here: https://chess.stackexchange.com/questions/36914/list-of-records-for-youngest-wfms-woman-fide-masters-since-1950-or-whenever/37084#37084

But are there any news articles or something to support this claim?

WGM edit

According to the article, she is a WGM. On what source is this statement based? Bob.v.R (talk) 02:47, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Pawnkingthree, in my browser the FIDE only mentions the titles IM and WIM. Bob.v.R (talk) 17:41, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Here under "FIDE title" it says International Master, Woman Grandmaster. As the requirements for the IM title are actually higher than WGM, it would make no sense for her to hold the former but not the latter. Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:17, 28 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for clarifying, I see now where you are looking. It appears now that the info at the FIDE website next to "FIDE title" is inconsistent with the info presented under "Titles", which was where I was looking. I guess we should assume, despite this inconsistency, that she is indeed a WGM. -- In general, I notice in the wikipedia articles about female chess players, that in case they are WGM and IM, both titles are mentioned. I think you found a bug in the FIDE website. (There are many.) The Titles section at the bottom of IM Marić's profile page lists International Master (IM) 1993 twice. One of those mentions should be WGM instead. Concerning including both IM and WGM titles, wikipedia is following FIDE's practice. As P-K3 notes, IM is a higher title than WGM, but strictly the women's titles are a distinct category from the general titles and aren't directly comparable. FIDE rating lists have provided the highest general title and highest women's title in separate columns for at least a decade, so we try to handle them the same way.
