There are several cases where it isn't clear where statements in the article are sourced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hmoulding (talkcontribs) 22:22, 19 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Cooper? edit

Is it relevant to say that Alice Cooper got his stage name from this woman? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.59.126.254 (talk) 05:49, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Feminist Perspective edit

I removed the section about Feminist Perspective as it violates WP:NPOV —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Samuel Sol (talkcontribs) 14:06, August 21, 2007 (UTC).

Ancestry edit

In Kilkenny, her ancestry is said to be not clear at all, either Anglo-Norman or Flemish. The name means a kettle maker and the family clearly did not originate in Ireland. The Flemish keteler would be closer to anglicized Kyteler than the norman ketiller. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.185.207.162 (talk) 16:20, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketteler_(Adelsgeschlecht)
Her name was actually Keteler, as was her father's (Jose(ph) Ket(t)eler) whose grave slab is kept in St. Canice's Cathedral in Kilkenny[1]. The pub/ building Kyteler's was named Keteler's until some time in the 20th century, as can be seen on earlier Ordnance Survey maps. It is a curiosity of the Kilkenny dialect (at least in my observation) that the e in the first syllable is pronounced as it now is in Kytelers, such as the hardware store Brett's being pronounced "Britt's" and the family name "Lenehan's" (also a pub in Kilkenny) as "Leenehans". I presume that the spelling of the pub was changed to reflect that.
I also believe that "Flemish" could cover anything sounding like the Flemish/ Dutch language to English/ Anglo-Norman/ Irish ears and could incorporate regions were Low German was spoken, including Westphalia. A.-K. D. (talk) 21:25, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

First Husband? edit

After the listing for William Outlaw it says "c. 1280-85". What does this mean? That he only lived to age five? That they were only married until she was five? It's just not clear what these dates are trying to convey, but I don't know enough about the subject to properly clarify them. 206.169.185.35 (talk) 02:25, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ergot Poisoning edit

This paragraph is not appropriate. It contains weasel language ("scholars argue") to make a point that is not germane to the article. (It might not even be germane to an article about Petronella de Meath. The only points relevant there are that she was tortured and made this confession under torture.) Paragraph removed. Chronology of Events edit

This section seems to be mostly not about Alice, and everything in it should be removed, and perhaps moved to its own article(s). The move should be accompanied with appropriate links to the new articles. Hmoulding (talk) 21:47, 19 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Inquisitions? edit

I think that "Ut inquisitions" should be "Ut inquisitiones". The phrase is Latin, and the Latin plural of "inquisitio" is "inquisitiones". If no one demurs, I will correct it. Sicherman (talk) 00:11, 10 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

New Sections for the Page edit

Hello, I have been working on multiple additions for this page. The topics I am going to add include: Kyteler's Motives, The Accusers and their motives, as well as some overall edits. I mostly left the trial section alone because it was very well done and I did not touch the timeline either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smtayl5 (talkcontribs) 03:49, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

The act of burning witches in Ireland lasted until 1895? edit

This sentence is missleading. The case citied as example is that of Bridget Cleary who was not an accused witch or who's case had anything to do with witchcraft. Brigid was burned to death during the course of interrogation by her husband at her home on suspicion of being a fairy. She was not convicted of any offence and sentenced to burn as this sentence may be interpreted — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sensibleken (talkcontribs) 12:04, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
