editThere is some confusion between the sources about the nature of the telescopes at ARO and the order in which they were opened. For instance it seems pretty clear that the original single-dish telescope was moved to ARO from Ottawa in 1962, although one of the refs implies it was 1966, I believe they are confused. The history of the 32-dish telescope is much more unclear, one source suggests it was the first instrument at ARO to enter service, in 1960, while another suggests it was also moved from Ottawa (unlikely). I also recall a presentation on the site from the late 1980s when I saw images of a long multi-port waveguide, but I don't recall any dishes associated with it. I'm not sure if I was seeing the waveguide from the 32-dish telescope with the dishes removed, or a completely different "low end" instrument. I'm still looking for more resources on all of this. - I found a paper Covington wrote for the RASC on the AGO that clears all of this up. All of the instruments at the AGO were new-builds, nothing (major) was moved from Goth Hill. Maury 15:52, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
