His mother Alexdrina Horsburgh (d 25 Nov 186 NZ) (aka Alexina) was only daughter of John Horsburgh (d 15 March 1837) and Alexandrina Munro. John Horsburgh's father was Robert Horsburgh and mother Mary Anderson (d 2 March 1818).[1] He had a brother Robert, who took over as Factor at Tongue.

Walter Turnbull(d 30 Oct 1897 NZ) had a father John Turnbull and mother Isabella Thornburn. Walter and Alexina married 29 Apr 1857 at Peebles Scotland. This gives a clue where the names come from but my source is not reliable so not in article. My purpose is try to determine who John Horsburgh is.
