"victory of the Royal family over the Jacobite uprisings" is an over-simplification which even a sleepy night subeditor totally ignorant of British history might be queasy about. It would even have embarrassed Cumberland, which is saying something. The first Highland supporters he met told Bonnie Prince Charlie he had no chance, and they were right. He played the loyalty card, and they followed him. Better simply delete the words "of the Royal family'" - not least because Bonnie Prince Charlie and his father James III and VIII were bona fide members of it.Delahays (talk) 10:11, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

If this IS being edited, fine. But it would be nice to see some evidence of that in a wee while86.133.69.132 (talk) 09:10, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't really see why if that was bothering editors in 2012 and 2016 they didn't change it in the article instead of posting about it on the talk page. Anyway I have revised that.Smeat75 (talk)
