Bias edit

This article is clearly biased, violating "Write without bias, as if you neither like nor dislike the subject". Many of its claims are categorical and without any reference. This article seems to be original "research" from one student's bad experience with the subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.172.62.61 (talk) 21:30, 14 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Feedback from New Page Review process edit

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Thank you for your new article on Alcohol abuse among college students. Note that it is currently an "Orphan" meaning that no other Wikipedia articles link TO it. This makes the article tough to find for interested readers. See WP:DE-ORPHAN for pointers..

Merger proposal edit

I propose to merge Alcohol use among college students into Alcohol abuse among college students. Here we have a new article that repeats the topic an older article. The older one (with USE in the title) has several problems with sourcing and style that have been unaddressed for up to five years. The newer article (with ABUSE in the title) is more fully sourced and better written. I suggest merging the old one into the new one, because the old one has a few useful sources. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:20, 5 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 9 April 2022 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: page moved from the previous title to Alcohol use among college students. Note that the current article is the result of at least two merges and other redirects in the past several years, so the history may be tough to follow. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 18:18, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Alcohol abuse among college studentsAlcohol use among college studentsAlcohol use among college students was merged with this article in 2020 by Surachit at the suggestion of Doomsdayer520. I agree with the merge, but I think "use" should have been the target per the WP:BROADCONCEPT guideline. The article's ideal scope should include aspects of college alcohol consumption beyond just abuse, so it should be located at a title that allows them to be incorporated. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 03:30, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

What happened in 2020 was that we had two articles on the same general topic because someone had created an accidental duplicate. Also note above that the same thing had happened with yet another duplicate a few months previously. After the merges the surviving article inherited the title of the strongest and most established of the originals, but it looks like we forgot the WP:BROADCONCEPT guideline. The latest move suggestion is a good idea, but it would be a little complex with all the leftover redirects sitting around. Unless someone objects over the next week or so, I can do the move as suggested. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:40, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
There seems to be no controversy so I am doing the page move as suggested by User:Sdkb. This is technically a "page swap" or "round robin" move in Wikipedia terminology because the suggested new title is currently a redirect. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 18:10, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
