Edit on copy-editing

The article was in desperate need of copy-editing for clarity and brevity. I have endeavored to improve its style, while leaving almost all original information intact. I removed a few statements that were unnecessarily POV, and added a few references and links to improve its suitability for Wikipedia. Aetheling 16:49, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Luminaries?

  • "such luminaries as then-President George W. Bush..." I take issue with the use of the word luminaries here. Surely there must be a better less biased word to describe this particular crowd. I for one have never heard george bush treated as a luminary, is that supposed to be a joke? 189.141.51.172 (talk) 23:57, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
  • "then-President George W. Bush"... When did Bush leave office? Oh ya, still in office. Funny that you bother pointing out one contextual problem and not another.

Classifications

  • This article has been classified as a start due to its level of organisation and detail. I have removed an unreferenced tag given that there are now references. However, sourcing could be improved for the article. Capitalistroadster 06:13, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
  • Sources have been improved and the article has been clearified. I have now assigned the article to a B-rating on quality and a high-importance-rating psychology article --139.117.10.100 (talk) 12:42, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Views of homosexuality

  • The article does not in its current form reflect the way that Ellis approached homosexuality in his therapy. In 1959 he wrote that homosexual behaviour is not pathological in itself, but that exclusive homosexuality was because it suggested that there was a block on heterosexual desires that was pathological. This was in the journal of clinical psychology. It was an interesting article. Nina 137.111.47.29 (talk) 04:49, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
  • The former statement do not reflect the revised and updated opionions Ellis had on homosexuality, and misunderstandings on this have been tried to be corrected in the article now under paragraph on his works as a sexologist. --139.117.10.100 (talk) 12:42, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Albert Ellis and Religion

  • I have removed the line, "Ellis may be as famous–or infamous–for his vigorous atheism as for his development of REBT," as this is a considerable exaggeration. Atheism is only one part of Ellis' philosophy, and this hardly compares to the development of REBT in terms of noteworthiness.24.6.7.233 05:05, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
  • For what it's worth, this reader finds the section on Ellis and religion very well handled in its current state. (I'm speaking as someone who knew nothing of Ellis before reading the article.) The article is very nicely written, imo. Thanks to all.
  • "Religious stance: nontheisitic humanism" ?? What kinda weasel language is that ? If you wanna have that category "religion" in the side box the appropriate verbing would be "Religion: None" or "atheist". People are obviously trying desperately to not call a duck a duck. "Nontheistic" is a nativism of "atheistic", the mean exactly the same thing. "Non-believing". --92.230.49.183 (talk) 21:31, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Using religionandspirituality.com as a source or link

The site takes submissions for publication on the website from anyone rather than real journalists (see http://www.religionandspirituality.com/write_for_us ). The site may include biased and unverified articles and cannot be considered a reliable source. The relevant terms of the website are under http://religionandspirituality.com/terms/ where it states "You understand that R&S does not control and is not responsible for any Postings on the website". Consequently the site fails the requirements of WP:RS unless the author is writing about themselves, in which case the requirements of WP:SELFPUB apply.

This site has been discussed at Wikipedia:RSN#religionandspirituality.com with the same consensus conclusions.—Ash (talk) 16:37, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
