- I added what I could, but there's surprisingly little actual information about AST out there... Zero Gravitas (話す • 投稿) 08:27, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Merge
editSomeone listed a propse merge between this article at the Alaska State Troopers Museum.
- Strong Oppose — they're two very distinct entities and should be treated as such by Wikipedia. Jarfingle 08:20, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- merge, they're not so distinct as to be inseparable, nor the museum to be notable as the stub it is. Merging would improve both. Chris 03:06, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Of course they're not inseparable, anything is possible and we could of course make it work if they were on the same page. However, what would be the ideal situation? I think since the museum is not operated by the troopers[4] and is distinct from the actual enforcement agency to the degree that there would be no point in one big smorgasbord article on everything trooper related — something that appears to be proposed. The Major League Baseball and Baseball Hall of Fame articles are separate and distinct. Same with Inupiat and the Inupiat Heritage Center. Etc. Jarfingle 07:09, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Second merge
editChris/Kintetsubuffalo proposed merging this article with the Alaska State Trooper Academy:
- Strong Oppose — Again, they are both very distinct. The academy's page has a huge amount of content and is especially notable for the special training troopers go through. It also doesn't completely fit under the AK State Troopers since many other types of non-trooper enforcement officers are trained there. Jarfingle 07:09, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
strong oppose Besides the anchorage police academy almost 90% of alaska law enforcement officers receive their police certification in Sitka. Im not even sure if the Fairbanks academy is even still running. While Troopers are stationed there as cadre, I dont believe it should be added to the alaska state troopers entry fbx22 17:12, 29 December 2006
Trivia Section
editUnder the Museum section, there is a trivia subsection. I'm deleting this section because no where in the Wikipedia guidelines for an article does it say you can put a trivia section. Please undo this and reply if you object. --Michaelzeng7 (talk) 01:15, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Additions and Corrections
editHello, to preface this, I would like to state that I live in Alaska, am related to and personally know many state troopers. If I got anything that I know to be wrong, please let me know.
This article needed some love though, and was a mix between an article about the Alaska Department of Public Safety and the Division of Alaska State Troopers.
Additions/Removals:
1. I added new subsections to and renamed the section "Field organization" to "Sections." I added "State Wide Drug Enforcement Unit," removed "Division of Alaska Wildlife Troopers" (to be made it's own article,) and "Alaska State Troopers" which only contained information about the detachments and posts, making it inappropriate for a sections list.
2. I created a new section named "Posts and Locations" consisting of the subsections "Posts" and "Other Facilities"
3. Removed the pargraph about the Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Enforcement as it no longer exists
4. Removed the paragraph about the Division of Fire and Life Safety as it is under the Department of Public Safety not AST.
5. Removed the paragraph about the Division of Judicial Services as it is under the Department of Public Safety not AST.
6. Removed the paragraph about the State Scientific Crime Detection Lab as it is under the Department of Public Safety not AST.
7. Removed the paragraph about the Division of Alaska Wildlife Troopers as it is under the Department of Public Safety not AST.
Corrections/Edits:
1. I rewrote the paragraph in Sections>Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol
2. I corrected some information in Sections>Special Emergency Response Team
3. I rewrote the paragraph in Sections>Search and Rescue
References Added:
1. Added missing references to the subsections about the sections and bureaus.
Yakutat
editThe Yakutat Borough also operates much like a sheriff's office similarly to the North Slope Borough. 2001:5B0:4FDB:8A9:F454:C36B:25DF:40F6 (talk) 06:21, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
The frozen ground
editThe movie ‘The Frozen Ground’ (2013) prominently features an Alaska State Trooper, maybe this should be added to the popular culture section. 178.115.60.19 (talk) 14:25, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
