There is no mention of the fact that Wolfe used to be a Marxist. Back in his Marxist days, Wolfe was part of the collective that put out the journal Kapitalistate, which used to feature articles from such writers as Poulantzas, Claus Offe, Ralph Miliband, Bob Jessups.

Some of the books that he either wrote or edited back when he was a Marxist include:

The Rise And Fall Of The `Soviet Threat.' Washington: Institute for Policy Studies, 1979.

The Limits Of Legitimacy: Political Contradictions of Contemporary Capitalism. New York: Free Press, 1977.

The Politics And Society Reader. New York: McKay, 1974. With Ira Katznelson et al.

The Seamy Side Of Democracy: Repression In America. New York: McKay, 1973.

Political Analysis: An Unorthodox Approach. New York: Crowell, 1972. With Charles A. McCoy.

An End To Political Science: The Caucus Papers. New York: Basic Books, 1970. With Marvin Surkin.

By all means, JimFarm, if you think it's important, go ahead and add it in.

I am not very familiar with Wolfe myself, but I think that for a public intellectual concerned with religion, the article ought to include a description of his personal religious views, as well as his political ideas. A history of his opinions, Marxism most definitely included if accurate, should also be presented.Trinite 23:31, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
