Laundry lists edit

I agree that the previous comments, though not trivial, are not appropriate for this discussion page. As has been pointed out, this page is for discussing ways to improve the article. Critique of the subject of the article, though valuable, is not the purpose of this page.

Also, it would be sufficient to mention one or two adaptations of Mr. Lightman's book. Exhaustively listing ALL adaptations is tedious and boring, spoiling an otherwise excellent article about a capable and interesting man. This is referred to as "laundry-listing," and is proscribed by Wikipedia community standards. If no agreement can be reached about which to list and what to omit, 'twould be better to delete them all, imho. Rags (talk) 03:00, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

As another editor has noted by including a tag on the article, most of the text of this article has been inserted by a user called Lightmanalan. There is nothing inherently wrong with someone editing their own page. However, the article has large amounts of unsourced assertions which need to be cited by Reliable sources.  Ashmoo (talk) 13:45, 5 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

reduction of Alan Lightman's wikipedia site edit

Someone eliminated a large portion of my Wikipedia page, I assume because many of the changes over the last five years have been made by myself. (I have not tried to hide behind a third party for changes.)

This site was originally created by the editors of Wikipedia about 15 years ago. I have kept it updated, but, in doing so, have put in too much material and undocumented material. I have restored the most important parts of the site and documented all documentable statements.
