Lambdin utilizes an idiosyncratic writing style that includes (we hope) deliberate misspellings, such as "fourty" used consistently instead of "forty," as well as recurring phrases (such as the ejaculation "Mine arse on a band box!" which the principal character spouts frequently) that may or may not be inventions of the author.
