Rehab

Their meeting in a rehab clinic is described here as "rumor". I believe it is accurate, but it should either be cited or gone. - Jmabel | Talk 17:24, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

I see it was cut without further comment. FWIW, I'm pretty sure that they have at times propagated the rumor themselves, but I'm not sure whether it is true or legend-making. It would be a good research topic for someone. The following was recently cut.

It's rumoured that the founding members of the band met each other in a drug rehab clinic where they were undergoing treatment for heroin addiction. There are numerous references to drug addiction in their songs, such as the song "Hypo Full of Love" on their first album, which is a parody of the Twelve-step program used to cure addicts. In addition the band has displayed a banner on-stage at their concerts which reads "Straight outta rehab".

Certainly the statement about "Hypo Full of Love" is true, and easily verified just by listening to the song. The rest could really use citation, and would be nice to have back, with citation. The best I could find quickly was this from The Guardian, but note that it merely says "reputedly formed in rehab". - Jmabel | Talk 06:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

I put in the comment about them meeting in rehab. I've read it in a few articles, but I haven't got any citations off hand. And like you say, I haven't seen any firm proof of it, so the band might well have made it up. I'll have a look when I get time and post any links up here.--MackORell 08:01, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Devlin Love

Should Devlin Love be added as a current member of the band? She has been gigging with them for over a year now, and has an official "name" - surely they're not going to get rid of her - she's an AMAZING vocalist, and based on recent gigs they are even changing classics to utilise her voice even more... I realise she is not listed on the website (but it is not updated often). Also, does anyone know her real name? JebJoya 16:09, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I believe that her real name is Zoe Devlin. She may even get credited as such on the Outlaw credits, but a quick Google digs up a couple of web sites that use that as her name: http://www.johnjohnrecords.com/html/band-trojans.html, http://www.whiskyfun.com/archivemay05-2.html. I'm not sure if they're good enough references for Wikipedia though. Nick Reynolds?

Several British media, including Channel 4 News and this article in The Guardian discuss Nick Reynolds (son of Bruce Reynolds, and not the subject of our Nick Reynolds article). They say he's the harmonica player in Alabama 3. The article says Marsh is the harmonica player - was Reynolds formerly a member, is he one now, or are these reports misrepresent his role in the band? 217.42.190.82 18:54, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Nick Reynolds AKA Harpo Strangelove is a member of Alabama 3 acoustic and unplugged and has been since 2000. However he has been an itinerant member of the main band up until 2006 and performed on the following albums: Power in the Blood, Last train to Mashville vol 2, Last train to Mashville vol 1 (bootleg), Outlaw and M.O.R. Tongue in cheek?

I agree. Considering their general style, it would seem that a stint as an 'acid selling coalman in yugoslavia' etc. etc. sounds a little... dubious. The Sopranos, anyone???

I came to this Wikipedia page to learn more about the group that made and performed the theme song for The Sopranos . . . . . . only to find out that it was given just a single mention . . . . . and then nothing else. This Wikpedia bio is a disgrace - not to mention a waste of time. Sort of like mentioning the Beatles without mentioning that they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. Anyway, who cares?

I totally agree with you on that. It's by far the most famous thing they have done or will ever do. I was hoping a separate section about the song breaking down how it was recorded and who sang that vocal which somehow got credited to Leonard Cohen completely erroneously. the song is one of the greatest Rhythm tracks I have ever heard, and I'm 70 LOL they must not be very proud of their work or maybe they got screwed on the deal that sold it to The Sopranos. Maybe they're not making squat off the publishing rights and they're pissed off about it. and they evidently aren't smart enough the realize that regardless of how they feel about it millions of people love this song and if they just satisfy people's curiosity about it it would be a great promotional tool and maybe people would listen or buy something that they do make money off of. I tell you what, I'm not real inclined now to look at a single other thing they have done. I feel ridiculous that I took them seriously as musicians and artists and came here curious about something I thought was incredible. somebody has made a conscious decision not to address that song here and I'm telling you that's a bad business decision. Wait what? You complain that it’s mentioned but a single time, then mention that is like an article on The Beatles NOT mentioning them having been on Ed Sullivan? That makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. It IS mentioned! What more do you want? This is an article about Alabama Three, NOT about The Sopranos. A single mention is all that is called for considering the fact that a single mix of the song was used for the theme song, yet there are literally several, if not dozens of remixes of the same song, AND not to mention it is but one single song among dozens these artists have recorded that have NEVER been used on TV. One song, and one single mix of said song, being used as a theme of any TV show is nothing more than a blip on huge radar of their entire career! Jake Black as lead singer?

“Jake Black, the band's lead singer and songwriter, had Addison's disease, and died on 21 May 2019…” …seems ridiculous considering virtually EVERY video online that can be found of the band features Rob very obviously singing in lead and always up front, while Jake is clearly a side man.
