The very first citation used (#1 from the LA Times) says Jolson's been described by modern critics as the "racist king of blackface performers". In fact, the word "racist" does not appear in this line of the article and so the citation is misleading at best (it's actually incorrect). Indeed, the article cited makes the case for Jolson being anti-racist.
