Schumacher, p. 64 writes the following about the place:
Der weiteren Ausdehnung der inmitten des prächtigsten Getreidelandes gelegenen Ortschaft stehen die Drusenüberfalle und der Wassermangel entgegen. Bringen die Dörfler die ihnen von den Drusenschechs auferlegte Summe auf, dann vermittelt ein südlich von Dorfe vorbeiführender Wasserkanal die Füllung der Wasserbehälter, und der Noth ist gesteuert. Können sie aber in Folge von schlechter Ernte das Geld nicht zahlen, dann darbt das ganze Dorf, und das Vieh muss in bosra getränkt werden. Sahwet hat einen halbzerfallenen Thurm und eine alte Kirche, aber keine christlichen Bewohner- Die alte Baureste sind nicht unbedeutend, bieten jedoch nichts Neues.
Die beiden benachbarten Raakaba und Bal sind Trümmerhaufen und Schafhürden aus der Zeit der Beduinenherrschaft.
Which I understand to mean:
The further expansion of the place, which is located in the midst of the most gorgeous corn country, is precluded by Druze village raids and the lack of water. If the villagers bring the sum [of money] which is imposed on them by the Druze Sheikhs, then a water-canal south of the village is connected to the village water tank and fills it, and misery is avoided. But if, due to a bad harvest, they cannot pay the money, then the whole village will starve, and the cattle must be watered in Bosra. Sahwet has a half-ruined tower and an old church, but no Christian residents.The old building remains are not insignificant, but offer nothing new.
The two neighboring Raakaba and Bal are .....from the time of Bedouin domination.
