We're doing this at school and we found out it could also be spelt Al-Qadar (our stundent teacher told us) She said it was the Muslim belief that Allah knows our destiny and we can do nothing about it, but we can still have free will —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.210.164.28 (talk) 15:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

~~Verse~~ Chapter 97 of the Qu'ran or Koran is the basis for a song in the opera "Hechalutz" or "The Pioneers of Palestine", composed in 1924 by Jacob Weinberg.

The song is called "The Night of Faith" and its lyrics quote directly from this verse or surah #97 from the Qu'ran.

Jacob Weinberg moved to Palestine (now Israel) in 1922. Here he studied the Jewish and Arabic folk tunes and also the words of the Qu'ran. He included this song "The Night of Faith" because he was enraptured by the middle-Eastern melodies and unique rhythms that were so different from those of Western/classical Russian music repertoire.

"The Pioneers of Palestine" opera (also known in Hebrew as "Hechalutz" or "Chalutzim") was performed numerous times - in Jerusalem, Berlin, NYC (at Carnegie Hall and at Mecca Temple, now called City Center). A CD that includes highlights from several productions of the opera is available on a digital platform called CD Baby. A biography of Jacob Weinberg called "Jacob Weinberg: Musical Pioneer" by Ellen Weinberg Mausner (his granddaughter0 is available on KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) on Amazon.l
