Sourcing edit

I guess you don't want to follow the WP:V policy. I don't want to edit war with you over this so I will just stay away from this and other Saudi Arabia articles. Sincerely, Mattisse 01:45, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

no friend , you can't just remove scripts for not finding sources , maximum thing you can do is adding this Template below

[citation needed] , then such articles about cities and famous places don't need extreme sources , because it's already shown in public :) thanx for care anywaysAmmar 01:49, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is WP:V non negotiable policy edit

Sorry, this is what I should have done -- removed it to talk page. Or else I can cite it as unsourced. Which would you prefer?

(quote)

Any edit lacking a source may be removed, but editors may object if you remove material without giving them a chance to provide references. If you want to request a source for an unsourced statement, consider moving it to the talk page.

I should have done that. Sorry . That is what I can do if you prefer. Sincerely, Mattisse 02:09, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

but you didn't give a "chance to provide references" , and why u recovering too many edits that simply ? just add [citation needed] and give 7 days to editor users to confirm their refrences . Ammar 02:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced material removed to here edit

Balad traces its history 2,500 years back as a fishing village when the Quda'a (Arabic: قضاعة) fishermen tribe settled there little knowing that they had established the cornerstone for one of the most thriving and cosmopolitan neighbourhoods of the Arab world. Balad is a beautiful blend of the modern and the classic where the glass facades of modern skyscrapers rub shoulders with Historical buidings with the distinct horizontally embedded Wooden beams that has come to symbolize Balad over years.

(Removed as unsourced from article.) I am happy to help you but only by following the Wikipedia policies on sourcing. Sincerely, Mattisse 02:25, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
ok im out of here , i'll leave it for the article starters Ammar 02:31, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I want to see articles on Saudi Arabia do well and be professional. I know my being so strict can get on people's nerves. And I apologise to you again. i am very sorry and I believe we both want to do the right thing by the article (which sounds like a really interesting place -- I like ancient history!). Thank you again. Sincerely, Mattisse 02:40, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

National Commercial Bank and the Old City edit

While working on a case study of the National Commercial Bank, here is what I found.

Many regard Gordon Bunshaft's best work to be the Lever House. This is just known by many in the world of architecture. However, the NCB is award winning according to SOM's project page.

According to some PDFs in Archnet.com, the NCB is located "on the fringe of the Old City" that is a bit different than being in the Old City.

However you choose to use this information is up to you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Werkbund (talkcontribs) 04:50, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

True, NCB HQ is located in the old city.  A M M A R  05:39, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you know this for sure, I would like to know the source because that would help out clearing up the site description for my case study for the NCB and as well as this article. Again, if you want to see for yourself where I came up with my information, well just go to archnet.org. Search for the building. The Check out the PDF that SOM and Serge Santelli submitted for the Aga Kahn Awards back in 1989 and look on the second page where it mentions "Context." It does not say that this building is in the Old City and it is careful to point out that it is in between the old city and other part of the city. If you have something that is more credible then if you can tell me where it says that the NCB is in the historic distict of Al-Balad or something along that manner. Please show me a source. Also if this was Bunshaft's finest work, this building would have won that award. Instead it came up short, studies show not only did this project show lack of landmark status according to similar architectural professions by 40% of the surveys given out. Without getting into great detail, the project lacks parking space and inefficient external movement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Werkbund (talkcontribs) 08:00, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually i live in Jeddah that's how i know. In fact, the old city (Al-Balad district) is divided into many neighborhoods (Harah), maybe SOM and Serge Santelli means so by telling its located in the old city and other parts. because some of these neighborhoods has alot of modern towers.  A M M A R  08:42, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Oh I see, you live there? So you're the credible source. Are you serious? I would get laughed at by my professor for writing some historical and critical information followed by... (Me). Look I am sorry but you cannot be taken as credible source (even if you live there). So what if these neighborhoods have "Modern" towers? That doesn't prove anything in your defense. I live in Vegas and you know, if I wrote about the mob influence's in this town and its history with it, I still would need to prove it in a source. Vegas also has casinos. But you know what? I can't claim them to be "Modern" because I don't have a source handy to prove that. Also, your first source cannot be found. Your second source is a travel website. How does that fly as acceptable? Not only are your sources not scholarly, they are not even close to being objectionable. I kbow this maybe "your" page but if you going to defend the information on it, you better bring some better armor because it is begging to be challenged and then taken over with more accurate information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Werkbund (talkcontribs) 09:02, 21 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
