@LilianaUwU: See WP:REFU#Deceased persons, of note the claim that the image must be "quality". elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 23:31, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

ElijahPepe, REFU is a failed proposal. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 23:35, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Apologies, I had not seen that. I would still argue that neither image serve the "same encyclopedic purpose" because of the difference in quality. I will wait for others to add their comments in. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 23:43, 8 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Based on my past understanding when an object that was the subject of an article was destroyed, we needed to wait to see if a free alternative or a compatible licensed image was available instead of using a non-free source to comply with NFCCP.
In the current situation, we have a non-free image and an image which is licensed under Creative Commons. My understanding is that the non-free image would fail WP:NFCCP#1 because there is the existence of a free alternative. Regarding the quality concern, we could try the cropped version of the file to see if it is preferable to the uncropped version. Otherwise, we would need to find another image that is either free or with a compatible license. --Super Goku V (talk) 12:02, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Shouldn't we at least use the uncropped version? It kinda irks me to have such a pixelated, cropped version as the main picture. JBOOK17 (talk) 13:25, 9 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
As far as I am aware, using the cropped or uncropped version would be a preference situation. I don't really have an opinion on which one is better, so if you feel that the uncropped version is better, then you could have a separate or sub-discussion to confirm which one should be used. --Super Goku V (talk) 05:40, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
good/bad news, the images are found to be potentially copyright violations. if deleted, we can use NFCC compliant image. If not deleted, I suggest using the uncropped version. – robertsky (talk) 06:39, 10 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Huh, I didn't know we had an NFCC compliant image that we could use right now. Or are you referring to the 1982 image? --Super Goku V (talk) 10:04, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@ElijahPepe: Are you pretty sure that a free image does not exist? --Super Goku V (talk) 05:41, 12 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 14:22, 12 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha. Then using that image should be fine for the purpose of NFCCP. Thank you for the response and for uploading the image. --Super Goku V (talk) 08:08, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. WikiVirusC(talk) 22:04, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Change "He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen manga with Dr. Slump"

to

"He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen/shōjo manga with Dr. Slump"

There weren't separate categories for shōnen and shōjo that year. 84.251.32.130 (talk) 12:03, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
