World War I Centenary Section removal

edit

I have removed this section as it is politically charged and an article about a cemetery is frankly an inappropriate venue for political edit wars regardless of your viewpoints on the current president. A.S. Williams (talk)

Trump Comments

edit

Wiki is not a political promotion vehicle (or is it?) An encyclopedia would not reference stories from anonymous sources. I've removed the "Trump allegedly said WWI veterans were losers and suckers" and referenced the Atlantic article which has been fully debunked by those who were with the President in France, Gidley, Fuentes, Kelley and Bolton. There's no purpose in including that other than to color the reader's thinking that it is fact and for political motivation. Please don't keep inserting it again.69.161.114.230 (talk) 11:54, 8 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

these comments have been covered in major news sources and verified. They also haven’t been debunked in any way, shape, or form. They are notable enough to keep. Garuda28 (talk) 13:17, 8 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
They've been debunked by at least 15 different people on record with firsthand knowledge of the decision to not attend the cemetery. Included among these are former Trump Administration officials who are critical of the President such as John Bolton and John Kelly's aide Zach Fuentes: Sources: https://nypost.com/2020/09/08/john-bolton-denies-claim-that-trump-called-fallen-soldiers-losers/ https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-thanks-john-kelly-aide-denies-atlantic-story Regardless of your politics, this news story is wildly inappropriate for inclusion in this article. I’ve copied over the text from the battle of Belleau wood. It’s sourced, includes the denial, but is beyond notable. To not include it in this article would have no basis in Wikipedia guidelines. I suggest you add your point of view to the Belleau Wood article, since that’s where this discussion has been centralized. @Oshwah: if you’d like to add to this, since you’ve already edited on this topic on this page.
