Article problems

This article relies heavily on Russian language sources. They need either to be translated or removed. It also relies on what appears to be a synthesis of sources such as Perepsis, which is something that we are not allowed to do here. It is an interesting topic but as things stand it is barely verifiable in many parts.

I would also draw attention to the provisions of WP:REFPUNC and WP:Citing sources, although I know that the major contributor is experienced enough that they should already be aware of these points. - Sitush (talk) 01:00, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Descendants or not?

The article says "The Ainu of Russia can be subdivided into six groups, of which three are extinct without even partial descendants.", but then goes on to list the six groups and give descriptions which suggest that all six have at least "partial descendants" (which I take to mean people some of whose ancestors were of the group in question). It's sort of like saying water exists in three forms, gaseous, liquid, and frozen, of which only the liquid form is physically perceptible, and then going on to describe how to perceive steam and ice. --Haruo (talk) 17:43, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

The Separation of Ainu in Russia and Sakhalin Ainu

Hey everyone,

When one searches up "Sakhalin Ainu", it is redirected to this page. However, shouldn't the Sakhalin Ainu, being one of three main subbranches of the historical Ainu, be put into its own separate article? While this article discusses the current subgroups of *all* Ainu in Russia, not just the Sakhalin, keep in mind that Sakhalin was never fully a Russian territory until the late 19th century, and the Sakhalin Ainu have lived way before that, with their own distinct culture, traditions, and language.
