Talk:Ahmed Albasheer

Latest comment: 4 years ago by Your Grass Mud Horse

Hello fellow editors,

I want to improve this page and I plan on doing that by making the following changes: adding a section on the political context in which Al-Basheer created his show (talking about Iraqi conflict, focussing especially on the protests starting in 2019, the government crackdowns on protestors, and the response from young protestors in return), adding a section on the response generated from the show (particularly more about how his show was banned by the Iraqi government due to some of the jokes and criticisms made and why Al-Basheer then proceeded to flee the country), and by forming a more complete list of shows relevant to Al-Basheer by linking to another Wikipedia article with this more complete and comprehensive list. If anyone has any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Your Grass Mud Horse (talk) 12:57, 9 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I wanted to give an update on my previous post as my intentions have changed slightly since then. I will now be focussing primarily on my second point, namely the response the show has generated. This topic has multiple facets to it (response from young Iraqi protestors, Iraqi government and politicians, and ISIS), is the most notable out of my list of previous ambitions, and is relevant to the life of Al-Basheer. I will focus on high-quality sourcing from reliable sources. In addition to this, I will update the introduction to reflect the rest of the article and to briefly touch on aspects of Al-Basheer's context which I am unable to elaborate on in the article. These changes will be made over the coming weeks. If anyone has any comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Your Grass Mud Horse (talk) 16:21, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Your Grass Mud Horse,

While I must admit that I had never heard of Ahmad Al-Basheer before, your plans to change this Wikipedia page are well thought out and seem feasible. I don't know to whether your exact plans of the update of 22 April are still the same. I think the slight changes of plans to focus on the response of the show in particular are good. In this way you have more time verify your statements and back them up by reliable sources. Nevertheless, I would still recommend you to not plan to change too much. You are still quite ambitious in among other things focussing on the response from young Iraqi protestors, Iraqi government, politicians, and ISIS. This seems like quite much information to delve into. Also, I see that on the current page of Ahmad Al-Basheer, Wikipedia added a few sidenotes where they were stating that a certain statement failed verification or that a citation is needed. Make sure to think about this when you're editing the page.

However, overall your ideas sound promising. Good luck! — Preceding unsigned comment added by RPJ10361 (talkcontribs) 16:13, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi RPJ10361,

I will make sure to fix the failed references currently on the page as you mentioned. As of right now, I am struggling to find information about the responses to the show from all the actors I mentioned so I think that due to their low notability, I will not be able to comment on all of them. However, I will make sure that the responses from actors that I do focus on are well researched. Thank you for your feedback! Your Grass Mud Horse (talk) 11:51, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
