I've just put this together, mostly by stealing parts from other articles. It's missing many things, such as:

Good figures/estimates of immigrants, distribution, etc.
A list of agricultural colonies surviving today (just the Las Colonias Department, Santa Fe has 37!) and some background on that.
Colonies (with demographic composition) in places other than Santa Fe (Entre Ríos is chock full of them too).
Influence of those immigrants in culture, language, etc. not covered elsewhere.
Maybe agricultural colonies before 1853? The misiones and reducciones of the Jesuits?
