Aemilius Jarvis and the King Edward Hotel

edit

The claim that Jarvis "built the King Edward Hotel" is unsupported. In <ref>Edward James Lennox: Builder of Toronto,<ref> 1995, Marilyn M. Litvak notes: "Legend has it that the idea of building a premier hotel at the corner of King and Victoria streets originated in the 1890s with Edward Aemilius Jarvis..." But by 1898 when the Toronto Hotel Company was formed (incorporated 1899), Jarvis was not listed among the directors cited in the <ref>Mail and Empire, May 16, 1899<ref>.
