Talk:Adriano (footballer, born February 1982)

Bahrain Visit edit

Seems out of place alongside the rest of the information about his club career. Also contains strong POV statements as well as an unencyclopedic tone and language. Thats why I originally removed it. If anyone feels they can clean it up better, then that would be great.

Name edit

Call him Adriano. Skinnyweed 14:14, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • In this article there appears to be a clear bias linking him to Manchester United. I would suggest a rewrite of much of the article, more specifically transfer speculation surrounding Adriano. He has been linked with other clubs much more profusely. --84.71.199.210 09:19, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Adriano's shots have reached speeds as high as 129.7kph (80.59 mph) , and he has a 45in vertical leap. edit

There is absolutely no way that Adriano has a vertical leap of 45". Such a vertical leap would place him amongst the highest leapers EVER to play in the NBA, and higher than players such as Alan Iverson, Kobe Bryant or Vince Carter. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.227.41.72 (talk) 06:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

Soccer Fight edit

see the first 10 seconds of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_Ikq-zM4_4&mode=related&search=

(Adriano is fighting in his own defense)

is it worth a mention on front page?

so because he punched someone, that deserves to be in his little wikipedia bio ?...I think not Krayziegunts (talk) 10:32, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well he's ok but not that great and he's not going to be n peles top players —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.251.54.3 (talk) 15:12, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why does it say he plays for Chelsea in the appearance part?

2005 Champions League Top Scorer edit

Adriano finished the 2004/2005 Champions League campaign as the Top Scorer with 10 goals. This is a milestone that should be mentioned as part of his individual honors. Only Kaka recently achieved such a record when he scored 10 goals for the 2006/2007 Champions League campaign. You can see it in Kaka's article. So why can't the same be done for Adriano ? Retired edit

I just saw on my phone and on various blogs that Adriano has retired. Do these count? http://italy.theoffside.com/serie-a/breaking-news-adriano-retires.html http://www.totalclubfootball.com/category/2009/04/breaking-news-adriano-retires/ Spiderone (talk) 15:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nah. Wait until a reliable source comes out, like Reuters or The Guardian. I think "retired" may have been their interpretation of his "sabbatical". In true Friends fashion, "he is on a break!" Sillyfolkboy (talk) 17:14, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

2008-09 Season edit

As much as it is enjoyable to read an article like that on a player, you may want to consider the adjectives being used...it sounds a little more like a blog. No offense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.19.127.132 (talk) 08:39, 21 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'll try and sort things out, but this is what happens when people rely on goal.com, blogs and the like. Personally, I try not to accept anything less than broadsheets or BBC Sport. At least then you're not the hundredth person to wrongly state that he's retired. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits) 18:50, 21 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Adriano's squad number edit

Hi! I suggest to all the persons changing Adriano's squad number to discuss this issue here. I strongly suggest to find a reliable source regarding his squad number. And please add this source in this page (Adriano's discussion page). --Carioca (talk) 18:25, 3 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Biased article edit

Any mentions of personal problems such as drugs (alcohol) abuse ruined his international career. Widely covered by booth brazilian and internacional press and not explained here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.78.102.118 (talk) 00:11, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bidone d'Oro edit

Why isn't the fact mentioned that Adriano has THREE TIMES been voted worst player in Serie A?

Here's just a sprinkling of the trustworthy news sources for this significant fact:

The bidone d'oro is an absolute joke in italy...even looking at the runners up it is easy to tell. Seriously, this shouldn't be in the first paragraph.

Removal of semi-protected status edit

The reason this page was semi protected is given as (when editing the page)

continuous vandalism citing a transfer not yet completed

Because it was protected in 28 May 2010 when the transfer window was still open it was vandalism was a real possibility. Justified? --Avash Pandit 00:10, 9 March 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Avashnirvana (talkcontribs)

Insufficient account of stint at Flamengo edit

Adriano won the 2009 Brazilian national championship for Flamengo. The team had last won that title in 1992, making that a major accomplishment. No mention either to his great playing relationship to Dejan Petkovic in Flamengo, or of Flamengo's Libertadores campaign the next year. Whats more, his numbers in Flamengo are wrong -- he scored 19 goals in the national competition alone, having scored many others in the Campeonato Carioca of 2010 and in the Libertadores cup. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.203.13.152 (talk) 16:30, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

You can edit the article and correct the wrong information, but you need to provide reliable sources. --Carioca (talk) 21:47, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

No you can't, this article is "locked". I'm not sure its English edition is so prone to vandalism; its Portuguese version surely is, but its being locked is stopping important information from being put in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.60.196.239 (talk) 00:28, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
