HEY edit

Is it Adolf Fick or Adolph Fick? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.37.102.221 (talk) 18:05, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

this article is stub-class but overall its good i got some good info from it for my project but not enough there should be alot more info on him alo of people look him up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.64.196.58 (talk) 12:40, 9 March 2008 (UTC) The article contrains a number of inaccuracies. The most unfortunate one is the confusion of Adolf Fick, the physiologist, with his nephew Adolf Eugen Fick, the ophthalmologist.84.150.109.249 (talk) 19:54, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The birth and death dates are not correct. see for correct dates http://vlp.mpiwg-berlin.mpg.de/people/data?id=per69 . Correct Writing of surname ist Adolf —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grama947 (talkcontribs) 20:56, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Uncle edit

I think the uncle and the nephew have been totally mixed up in this article. It needs an expert to sort this out.Bletchley (talk) 14:20, 3 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Uncle (The physiologist): Adolf Eugen Fick (* 3. September 1829 in Kassel; † 21. August 1901 in Blankenberge, Belgium)

Nephew (The ophtomologist): Adolf Gaston Eugen Fick (* 22. February 1852 in Marburg, Hessen; † 11. February 1937 in Herrsching am Ammersee). The invention of the contact lenses are credited to him...not his uncle.

The Nephew edit

Got tripped up in research by these two. The uncle coined Cardiac Output and the nephew invented the contact lens. Amazing. I am trying to find out if Adolph Fick knew Otto Frank (of Frank-Starling fame) the cardiac physiologist. Both lived in Germany in approximately the same time period. Did Fick and Frank morph Cardiac Output into Stroke Volume? Les Beben

Agree that uncle and nephew have been confused here edit

I agree with the above comments that the uncle and nephew have been mixed up here. I will try and get some attention paid to the article so that this is sorted out with reliable sources that haven't themselves fallen prey to the same confusion. Carcharoth (talk) 23:34, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think the changes I made here have sorted out the confusion. The main confusion being the addition of contact lens stuff here and the use of the wrong picture (the nephew invented contact lenses and that information and his picture was here in the article about his uncle). I'll go and tidy the article up a bit more now. Carcharoth (talk) 01:33, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
The article still says that Adolf Eugen Fick invented the contact lens. It's OK in the Notes, though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.24.211.180 (talk) 04:27, 26 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
