Screenshot
editOnce and for all: it's a badly skinned Windows XP; the close/minimize/maximize widgets are on the wrong side of the window and the contents of the window are typical Macromedia on Windows style. If you don't believe me, check a typical Mac screenshot and a screen of Dreamweaver on Mac 81.11.207.96 —Preceding undated comment was added at 18:59, 10 January 2009 (UTC).
Multi CPU/Core aware?
editDoes any version of Director support multi-processing? --24.249.108.133 20:14, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Answer: No. Director, as of 10.1, is only single-CPU aware. Version 2 of the Shockwave Multiuser Server, which implemented a server-side subset of Lingo, did introduce "threads", which were destined to be multi-CPU aware. However, development of the SMUS was dropped after version 3 (in favor of the Flash Communications Server), and the "Threads in Lingo" concept died with the server. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IP address (talk)

Competitors?
editWhat other software titles compete in the same space as Director? --Navstar 18:30, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- I would like to add a WP link to mTropolis, one of Director's early competitors. Connectionfailure (talk) 01:11, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Maidmarian
editI removed the link to Maidmarian. Although it's a Shockwave game, the website doesn't contain any information about Director.
Compatibility
editAre there plans for an updated version of Director? 65.118.142.157 (talk) 18:52, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- That is an useful question. I have another: does someone have their Shockwave 11.5 plug-in working simultaneously on Firefox and Vista? I use Vista sp-1 and it just works on ie 8 here. Thank you. --Algorithme (talk) 18:56, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- I am so grateful for your help!…
- It is working on the configuration above on Firefox 3.5, but with some flaws; e.g., the cursor for the plug-in window appears on all tabs on the same coordinates.--Algorithme (talk) 09:55, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Is Adobe Director dead?
editIt hasn't been updated in over two years, and it's not part of the Creative Suite or Creative Cloud library. Does anyone know the current status? This should be listed on the main article.173.58.96.84 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:13, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Comparison with Flash
editSome of the comments made in the Comparison with Flash section just weren't correct. While Director files were generally larger than Flash files, in many cases the differences between the two had more to do with the way they were authored than anything else. Director supported raster and Flash supported vector, and so that's just a default difference that really can't be overcome. It is of course possible to author large Flash files (Praystation's Flash site's files regularly topped 1MB), and Director with all unnecessary XTRAS removed could output files as small as 11kb.
Director did not default to this, though, and so by-and-large most developers didn't know this. Macromedia itself did very little to correct the misinterpretation. I've tried to update the entry to reflect this difference, and will leave it to a wiser mind than I to find a better / more accurate way report the "fivefold difference in size" claim made in the text.
