Same topic, different article? edit

ATP/ADP Translocase - is this the same? -- 89.196.25.143 (talk) 13:24, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mitochondrial carrier - this also looks like another duplicate of the article. Actually both articles Mitochondrial carrier and ATP/ADP Translocase talk about the protein being a dimer whilst in this article it is said to be a monomer with 2 references (Bamber et al) to proof it quite solidly. It seems that the dimer theory is still quite extended as shown in this review [[1]] of 2012. I would say that the Bamber et al articles make the case quite clear. Major mistake requiring revision? edit

The adenine nucleotide translocase spans the inner membrane of the mitochondrion. Surely it does not exchange ATP and ADP between the mitochondrial matrix and the cytosol, as suggested throughout the article and depicted in the figure, but rather between the matrix and the intermembrane space. Should I correct this? To Err is Mooninite (talk) 13:42, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Missing reference to the isolation of ADP/ATP Translocator edit

In the "History" section, information regarding the isolation of ADP/ATP Translocator should be added after the paragraph regarding Bruni et al. The following information comes from Klingenberg, M. (1976). The ADP-ATP Carrier in Mitochondrial Membranes (cited below):

"The ADP/ATP Translocator was isolated for the first time in the world in 1975 from bovine heart as a complex with its inhibitor carboxyactractyloside. It was the first isolation of a biomembrane transporter in intact state and the demonstration of the existence of a specific transport system for ADP and ATP. The purification procedure then served as a model for all other mitochondrial carriers isolated subsequently."
