Talk:Adelaide United FC Youth

Non-free use of File:Adelaide United FC logo.svg edit

This image does not have the separate, specific non-free use rationale it needs according to WP:NFCC#10c to be used in this particular article. Therefore, it may be removed per WP:NFCCE. Normally, all that is needed is to add the appropriate nfur to the file's page so that all 10 of the WP:NFCCP are satisfied. It's not clear, however, if such a rationale would even be valid in this case because of No. 17 of WP:NFC#UUI. No. 17 basically says that non-free logos of parent organizations cannot be used in the articles of child organizations and then non-free logos specific to the child organizations are to be used instead. If Adelaide United FC is considered to be the "parent" of the youth team in this case, then I don't believe the image can be used. - Marchjuly (talk) 04:47, 8 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

– Consensus reached for change in name for all Youth articles – which have had multiple name changes in recent times – back to how they were previously named. This follows on from a discussion over the past month or so at Football/Australia task force discussion Matilda Maniac (talk) 00:06, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

from the end of this discussion there were 5 statements (directly or indirectly) of Support, from Myself, @SuperJew: @J man708: @Clifton9: and @Simione001: (noting that the latter had previously expressed a preference for NPL over Youth, and questioning the notability of the Y-League competition in general). also including @FastCube: here as another likely interested party for any further discussion. Just one thing, why is the "Adelaide United FC II & Brisbane Roar FC II" articles still here on Wikipedia. They can be removed now. --FastCube (talk) 02:36, 23 November 2019 (UTC)FastCube.Reply
As the articles that I was trying to Move to already existed, I was unable to effect the move directly, this seems to be the process to follow. Matilda Maniac (talk) 11:03, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Seems to be all systems go, outside of the physical move. An interesting comment from @Simione001: to ask about the notability of the Y-League. I have to tend to agree, but I don't want to see them go. - J man708 (talk) 12:16, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I can rename the articles to just "Youth". However, when I was going to, it denied from me from renaming the article, because it says: "This page name already existed". What can I do? --FastCube (talk) 06:06, 24 November 2019 (UTC)FastCubeReply
@FastCube: You need to do nothing just now, other than comment here. You just need to wait until this process is settled, and the articles will be renamed providing there is consensus, which seems likely. Matilda Maniac (talk) 13:14, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I think one step at a time in case this over complicates the seeking of consensus. I think such a move&merge needs to occur regardless of the resolution, but that it can wait another week or so. Matilda Maniac (talk) 00:05, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
