Fix it, it is insulting. edit

It is highly insulting to put quotes on female "action heroes" and not on male action heroes. Either be consistent (change to male "action heroes" or female action heroes) or just delete the whole article.

But you already knew that. I find this sort of misleading/misdirecting sort of document more distressing than the sexism. I'm not bothering to edit the document because you'll probably just change it back. Which raises issues of relevance of edits, amongst other things.
In future DO NOT DO THIS. Or put some caveat in the heading that it isn't a real article, just a test of observation or to gather research data.

Oh, and I will be blogging about this. Rutybear (talk) 08:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it was put in quotation marks because the term for 'female action hero' has traditionally been 'action heroine'. 121.210.210.11 (talk) 10:47, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Furthermore, the statement at the top: "Those actors most strongly identified with the genre are either extremely athletic or find appeal as an everyman, if somewhat enhanced." Does not hold true for the majority of the female actors listed. They are not athletic by the standards of actual female athletes or even fitness models. They are mostly simply actresses who were chosen for the role based off past roles they played. That description does not accurately represent both sexes. 216.67.11.52 (talk) 23:31, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Comics? edit

Aren't comics a fairly conspicuous missing category? Cnanninga (talk) 19:06, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

What about actors like edit

Removal of unfree images edit

I've removed several unfree images, and twice they've been restored. I've removed them again because their use does not meet Wikipedia's POLICY on the use of UNFREE media. This is covered at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria and the main points are covered at Wikipedia:NFCC#8 & Wikipedia:NFCC#10. It is not acceptable to just ignore this policy and return these images as no attempt has been made to justify their use, and adding them to a list without context is no more than decoration. Whoever keeps doing this needs to read the policy, and if you want to address it, go ahead. Do not continue to revert. Rossrs (talk) 21:34, 17 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cartoons, Anime, Animation, Comics, Manga edit

Would someone please clarify the difference between cartoon, anime, and animation? Where would a hero from a non-Japanese comic fit in? If a hero has a cartoon and a comic, where should they be listed? -Crabbylucy (talk) 09:36, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Separate Performers from Performance edit

Also, I think having actors and actresses is wrong - or that needs to be clarified. Instead, just have the role played by the performer, not the performer. --Crabbylucy (talk) 09:35, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
