I'm thinking of merging this article with the Act of Supremacy article. Any reason why not? Richard75 21:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd actually prefer going the other way, and breaking out Act of Supremacy 1534 into its own article. There is surely a lot more to say about each Act than the current version provides. --Mais oui! 22:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Title and Date of the Act edit

The Act was passed in 1559, but its title is the Act of Supremacy 1558. This is because the convention for dating Acts of Parliament was to date them according to the year in which the session of Parliament began sitting, not from the date on which they received Royal Assent. The article makes that clear. Please do not change the date back to 1559, which would be wrong: see the citation in the external link to the Statute Law Database. The Queen's Printer copy of the Statute Law Revision Act 1948 that I am looking at has the short title of this Act as "The Act of Supremacy" (i.e. the year is not included at all). James500 (talk) 12:31, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
