Article fails to make sufficient distinction

edit

This article states that the de jure and de facto rule of Akhna is split between the Republic of Cyprus and the (unrecognised) Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

While this is true for the old town, stating that the 1,900 inhabitants (as per the 2001 census data) are under such de jure rule is manifestly inaccurate. The article even makes mention of the fact that the town is now uninhabited, leading to a contradiction within the content itself.

The inhabitants all live in Dhasaki Akhnas, the new town built after the displacement of peoples in the 1970s.

This may seem trivial, but it is a material point because the populace of Akhna are not being illegally subjected to ongoing de jure rule by an unrecognised nation. They are rather being prevented from returning to their ancestral home by such rule. A reader of this article could easily draw a false conclusion, therefore this article's content is not fit for an encyclopedia on grounds of inaccuracy.

Unless there is an objection, I propose to make the article about Dhasaki Akhnas and to create a separate article (on the effect of the events the 1974 Turkish invasion on Akhna, its political situation and its people) to eliminate this confusion.

If there are any objections/reservations then let me know.
