Merge of Acetobacter

The Acetobacter page was recently merged into this one. I think it ought to have its own page as Acetobacter is a specific genus and thus a subset of all kinds of acetic acid bacteria. Discuss? Yangosplat222 (talk) 18:39, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I renamed the Academic references section to Further reading because that is more consistent with Wikipedia formatting; however, it's not exactly accurate, and ideally those sources should be moved into Acetic acid bacteria#References and cited in the body of the article. Nomenclature for the bacteria that synthesize cellulose: Acetobacter xylinum?

The synthesis of cellulose by a bacteria is very interesting and does belong in the article. However, if I understand correctly, the current nomenclature is not Acetobacter xylinum. Instead, it's Acetobacter aceti subsp. xylinus , according to bacterio.net. My expertise isn't sufficient to determine the best way to present this in a Wikipedia article, so I will let someone else decide whether an edit is desirable. I agree, but I am pretty sure that cellulose production is not part of their oxidative metabolism.
