Chemistry carbon is the abundant material present in the universe ex. The abundant. Of chemical elements in the universe is dominated by the large amount of hydrogen. And helium which were produced in the big Bang edit

Numbering of the elements in the table edit

Is there some reason the table does not include an ordinal rank column? I would think this would be a natural addition, but I don't want to put it in if the idea has already been discussed and rejected. PianoDan (talk) 18:03, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

The relative rank of the elements is not notable. Sources don't give it and the variability of the values makes the relative rank vary. Johnjbarton (talk) 02:45, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposal to remove Atomic fraction from the table. edit

The last column in the table "Estimated abundances of chemical elements in the Earth" is " fraction by number of atoms in parts per billion (ppb)". But these numbers are not from a source. What is their purpose here? Johnjbarton (talk) 02:47, 6 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
