Academy status
editAs mentioned, the “big” school in Aboyne was upgraded to an academy for the school year 1972/1973. This was the first year to do “Higher” exams. Prior to this it was a secondary school taking pupils as far as “O” levels. Any reference to the school becoming an academy in 1973 or 1974 will be to do with the new building and community centre works being completed or to a formal opening ceremony, as opposed to it offering an Academy education. I know because I was in the class of 1972/1973 who first sat Higher exams in Aboyne Academy. 109.151.0.130 (talk) 20:07, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
