Note to editors: the anglicisation Aberdovey is used for this lifeboat station according to usage by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the convention in WP:COMMONNAME. The Welsh language spelling Aberdyfi is used for the community, in which this station is located, on the English language Wikipedia (please see Aberdyfi#Name, Talk:Aberdyfi and Talk:Aberdyfi/Archive 1 for more information on the naming issue). Do not add a thread suggesting a change of any name in the article from Aberdovey railway station to Aberdyfi lifeboat station, or vice versa, without ensuring that you bring fresh arguments that stand a good chance of challenging consensus. Edit requests without detail, particularly those containing personal attacks, will be removed. |
I have called this page Aberdovey LS rather than Aberdyfi LS because that’s what the RNLI call it, even though the village’s article is Aberdyfi. I have created a redirect from Aberdyfi Lifeboat Station. While there is only one non-independent citation, there will be many more in the news, so I will be looking for those (including in the British Newspaper Archive) and adding them as and when I find them. Aberdyfi has an RFC for possible consensus over the usage of alternate spellings for the name of the community on the English language Wikipedia. A discussion is taking place.
