I want to give a better idea of the debate and controversy over her ideas. Being very pro-Whiteside myself, I can't think of a good reason why anyone wouldn't use them, but someone else probably can. Expansion is welcome in this section.

Fair use rationale for Image:Whiteside.jpg

Image:Whiteside.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

"outlining," "muscle memory," and other edits

Thanks to the original writer of this entry.

I added material on an essential--guiding, one might say--principle of Whiteside technique: 1 graf on the principle of freeing the relation of muscle to mind, and then reattaching it; a graf on one of her practical methods to achieve that (the transposing, etc.) that help to "undo" (she says that somewhere) the training of a muscle memory that limits free, musical expression. I have also added a sentence or two on outlining, which was, in some respects, a principle and technique that focuses on which freeing the muscles and mind from anticipating merely the next note. I believe these two principles, their application, and method of achieving them, are critical in Whiteside's method.

I've also added a sentence on Alexander technique, which she ackgnowledges has some similarities.

Creating a "Works" section and killing it from the article makes sense and is correct style.

I have suggested only one citation needed (perhaps the other one was done by a robot). That is where the original author of this entry cited Whiteside directly. Along those lines, if the cite from the box quote could be narrowed down to which edition, the page reference would make more sense.

WikiProjects: Huh?

I added a category listing for Whiteside to Music Educators. But, as to larger indexing, I barely understand "WikiProjects," nor do I think I want to find out the coding to say or request the editors in charge of projects, but judging by the titles, Whiteside shows up in Projects for Biography and for South Dakota. That's fine, of course, but there is a WikiProjectMusic, or something, and does anyone know how to get her there or wherever music area she belongs?Shlishke (talk) 00:30, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
