Title Translations

This movie was known in Germany as Der Goofy Film, which means The Goofy Film in English.

Japanese cast

Why is this here? I don't see any justification for including the Japanese voice cast for this movie, especially since no other dub-cast is even mentioned. Unless someone can demonstrate why the Japanese dubbing cast (and ONLY the Japanese) needs to be here, it has to go. Chalkieperfect 18:11, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Cult following

This movie has "a substantial cult following"? Really? I'm not sure I'd want to meet someone who was a part of that. But I kind of want to hear someone back up this odd claim.--Zincomog 04:38, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

• by "It ain't a cult film." do you mean noone likes it and it doesn't have a small but dedicated following or just because you don't think it was all that great and don't think it deserves a small cult following?
• I have no knowledge of this movie having any kind of cult following. It was modestly popular, and of course I'm sure there are groups and/or individuals who think it was the best movie in history (to be honest, I love this movie), but there's a lot more to "cult following" than just "group of dedicated fans"-- EVERY movie has a fan-base, but not every movie is has a cult following. Controversy

This movie contains certain controversies, which are that when P.J. was walking out of Principal Mazur's office, he was punched in the face by Principal Mazur (the performance was excluded, due to content censorship in order to release this movie under a "G" rating), and the song "Staying Alive" from the R-rated film, Saturday Night Fever, which was later released with a "PG" rating with at least six minutes cut from the film. --PJ Pete

A little dubious as to the latter part being "controversial" by now, at least partly because it was something of a hit for the Bee Gees separately from the movie. But you do have one point, they could look for better sources for background music. WAVY 10 23:24, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Age?

About this quote...

I'm not sure because it seems more like their last year in junior high, especially if Max is supposed to be a College freshman for 2000's An Extremely Goofy Movie. WAVY 10 18:04, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Anamorphic DVD release?

The info on this Wiki entry says that the PAL DVD of this film is non-anamorphic. However, I've seen PAL-speed clips from the film on (I admit it) YouTube, and they're squeezed, as if it was a 16:9 source ripped at 4:3. No, I won't give links, just look it up...

Slight edit to movie plot

Added comment on Max's using the Perfect Cast technique to save his dad from the waterfall. The Perfect Cast is a running gag that not only works great for fishing, but also apparently helps save a life (Goofy's) and becomes a dance move when not accompanied by the fishing rod. A third Goofy Movie?

A bit of text on the Extremely Goofy Movie article suggests a third Goofy Movie is in the works and going to be released on Disney XD. A Google search for the title A Fantastic Goofy Movie turned up nothing (except a bunch of copies of the Wikipedia article). Is this just someone spreading a false rumour? Capital Punishment?

"Roxanne speaks with Max and agrees to go with him to a party where Powerline's concert will be aired live, but Mazur forewarns Goofy that Max's actions may result in facing capital punishment."

Grand Canyon

@Sabrblade: This is the scene in question and I see no signage mentioning the Grand Canyon at the moment you claim. This might be just that this is a low-resolution version of the scene, but even then I'd like to see a screenshot of that moment. The sign is only visible in that clip in the very last two seconds, but the video cuts off before it is readable. The sign is more visible in this clip and is legible at 0:00–0:03 and 0:17–0:20 (but only in HD quality since it wasn't until the Blu-Ray release in 2019 that the sign was actually readable). --Sabrblade (talk) 23:44, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, this is fair to include. Clear enough by a casual view of the better quality source; it is not like there is only one frame of the film that says "grand canyon" and we're asking readers to find it. It's readily apparent from the film. --Masem (t) 23:47, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

And, believe me, I totally get that it's not an accurate representation of the real world Grand Canyon. As soon as I saw that sign after first watching the Blu-Ray last year, I immediately went looking to see if I could figure out where in the canyon the waterfall might be, and saw that the Colorado River has no waterfalls inside the Grand Canyon at all. Plus, like you said, Route 66 doesn't run alongside the river inside the Grand Canyon anyway, nor does any other major highway at all. So, some pretty big artistic liberties were taken with this movie's depiction of the Grand Canyon, the Colorado River, and Route 66, all for the purpose of dramatic storytelling. --Sabrblade (talk) 03:51, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
