reasoning ? edit

Just one example: Agassi lost three finals and won one; how come 1-12? Total participations of Ferrero 3; how come 0-1? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.54.48.127 (talk) 11:20, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Apparently it was 1 won and 12 lost tournaments for Agassi, and final win-loss for Ferrero. Must have been a messy table back then. 82.141.64.59 (talk) 07:16, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

two same letter codes edit

In the end is the legend which has:
W = winner
W = withdrew during the tournament(1996-present),
but there is no explanation when "W" means winner or withdrewing. 82.141.64.59 (talk) 07:29, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Apparently, the "W" in best result column means win and after the year "(W)" means withdrewn. Maybe it should be described there, or noted in the Key that actually (W) (W in parentheses) means withdrew, not just plain W. 109.240.116.238 (talk) 23:08, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

3rd match playoff edit

There was a 3rd place playoff in 1972, 1978 and 1979 (see link below) which was actually played only in 1978: Gottfried d. Dibbs 64 76 (it was the 2nd time they met at this tournament as Gottfried already defeated Dibbs 63 63 in their RR match).

Apparently, this hasn't been taken into account in the table so far, so I'm updating Dibbs and Gottfried recods (respectively from 3-6 to 3-7 and from 7-3 to 8-3). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiwanito (talkcontribs) 15:45, 3 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Connors in 1986? edit

I once read on the ATP website that Connors didn't qualify for the year-end Masters in 1986 (whereas the table indicates the contrary). I don't have any proper reference as ATP website has since been upgraded on various occasions... but I still have the quote (from "Sharkbites"):

Has the USA ever failed to qualify at least one player for the Tennis Masters Cup/year-end championship?

- Fabrice Martel, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The last time an American didn't qualify for the year-end championship was in 1986 at the Masters in New York. Jimmy Connors finished No. 8 that year in the ATP Rankings but was No. 9 in the Grand Prix points standings (and only the Top 8 qualified).

Can anyone confirm that? Wikiwanito (talk) 01:02, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

You are correct. Exactly what you said, Connors placed 9th in the Grand Prix points and did not qualify. Per the Chicago Sun Times. Also per the NY Times he did not qualify. Fyunck(click) (talk) 01:35, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
