Untitled edit

English information on this railway on the net is sparse and contradictory. Here are some sources used:

One point I'm still confused about: is the connection to Incheon Line 1 at Gyulhyeon, an existing station, or Gyeyang, which isn't open yet? Jpatokal 18:22, 14 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Found the route map on the official site, so I'll take this as the final word: [1] Jpatokal 03:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Apostrophes edit

From what I can gather the apostrophe is a stylistic representation of the star in the AREX logo, and serves no grammatical purpose. WP:MOS discourages reproducing such features (such as rendering "adidas" with a lower case "a"). Deiz talk 07:46, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough, I see that the finally-launched English site also uses plain "AREX". However, the official English name of the company is the "Airport Railroad Co Ltd" and this form is consistently used on their website(s), so I've reverted to this form in the initial paragraph. Jpatokal 13:36, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Agreed on the company name, but the article is about the "product", which I believe derives its name from "airport railroad express"? Deiz talk 14:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Believe all you want (and it does seem kinda obvious), but you'll need a source before you can claim it in the article. Jpatokal 17:19, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm extremely well aware of the need for sources, check out the grief I get on my TP :) I like the way the piece is worded right now, no imminent changes necessary. Deiz talk 22:19, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Planned stations edit

Is construction work in progress on the planned stations, or are they just a pipe dream? Because if not, they should probably be removed from the stations table. Jpatokal (talk) 21:50, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Neither in construction, nor just pipe dream, but apparently concrete but delayed plans comparable to the extra THSRC stations. In addition to the extra details from the source I put into the article, I give this source which apparently says that construction of Cheonga Station is scheduled to start in October 2011, but inhabitants of the new developments are already complaining that the December 2012 finishing date is too far away. --Rontombontom (talk) 12:59, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm flying to Incheon IAP on 1 May and hope to ride the AERX to Seoul Main Station. I'll see if I can gather enough information to answer questions regarding the line's current status and update this article upon my return. VilePig (talk) 18:56, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Were you able to confirm or deny? I think I remember looking at the board above the doors (where it says you are on the map and updates via LEDs) and it showed the additional stations with dashed red lines meaning under construction. That was a few months ago and I won't get a chance to ride again for quite some time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rickinasia (talkcontribs) 15:32, 10 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am also unsure what is happening with 마곡나루 Station (inbetween Gimpo and Digitial Media City Stations). Arex's website mentions Gongdok and Honggik Univ stations but no mention of 마곡나루. The Korean Wiki page says unknown opening date with Line 9 and AREX meeting there. Checking Naver Maps has AREX opening 2011 and Line 9 'future'. There is however a number reserved for it in Line 9's naming scheme as #905. Also Line 9's official website shows the station in English written as Magoknaru. I will add this info to Line 9's Wiki page but not here since there is less concrete information. Rickinasia (talk) 13:04, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I almost forgot my mention on 13 April that I was soon flying to Incheon and planned to ride AREX to Seoul Station. As it turned out, my sister-in-law was not working on the day we arrived (2 May), so she picked us up and brought us into Seoul without having to ride the train. When we departed three weeks later, she dropped us off at the downtown bus terminal that takes passengers directly to the airport. I never did get to ride that train, although I rode many others, including the KTX to Pusan and back. In any case, I have a contact in Korea who is very knowledgeable regarding rail operations and I'll ask him about the status of planned stations. As soon as I have a response from him, I'll provide an update here. VilePig (talk) 14:40, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I was looking for the future connection with Line 9, which would be underground. It was too dark to see anything; so nothing to report. I however was too busy with family conversations to look for other future / possible future stations.Rickinasia (talk) 16:01, 2 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
